border crossin' fiend!
Not sure about that subject line...I just crossed one border and it wasn't fiendish at all.  I'm in Argentina now, first time ever!  After a bit of wandering around trying to find a cash machine I've parked myself at an HI hostel a bit out of town.  They have free internet.  Score!  (But laundry is 6 bucks...so it balances out.)

Yesterday's trip to the Brazillian side of Iguacu falls was pleasant and beautiful; everyone tells me that the Argentine side is way better, so I'm really looking forward to poking around tomorrow.  Right now I'm in the middle of trying to see how much money I can part with, and decide what I want to do.  A lot of folks told me I HAD to take a boat ride under the falls, but the trips are $25 (12 min) or $50 (an hour, with some side stuff).  That just seems a bit much.  Grumble.  I'm such a miser!

On a random travel note, I can't remember the last time I ate a real vegetable.  Probably Monday.  That's no good.  When I go grocery shopping I will be sure to mend that...but the kitchen is a little grungy here, so I'll have to think creatively.

Book selection at the exchange is looking slim.  There's a copy of Kissinger's Diplomacy, and a few other things caught my eye...the variety at these places is astounding...even if it's just bare bones it's fun to see what detritus has sifted through.  This would be the world without libraries.  Well, maybe not, but it makes me feel special and important to think that.  :-)

are you staying at the luxurious Hostel Inn? I looked at it but settled on something in the main town -- I like being walking distance from multiple restaurants and the bus station.

Iguazu was one of the most awe inspiring and beautiful places I have ever visited but I only saw it from the Argentine side. I skipped the boat ride because I didn't want to get soaking wet and then spend the day walking around with wet stuff. You can get pretty close to the waterfalls on the catwalks they have setup.

My favorite book that I ever came across was "Accounting for Dummies" at the Koala Inn (in Potosi and one of the best book exchanges in south america). I was, and remain, baffled about how it got there. What sorry traveler/backpacker trekked all the way to Potosi carrying that book? It made me sad just thinking about it!

Yep, I'm at the Hostel Inn...I was suckered by LP's bit saying it was one of the best hostels in the country. Blah. It's big and institutional and the breakfast is crap. But after I'd lugged my bag all the way out here and crossed the border and all that fun stuff, I decided to stay...didn't want to lug it all back into town and keep looking. I'm lazy like that.

I decided not to take the boat ride 'cause I'm cheap, but your reason sounds better.
